The “27 curse” began in 1970 when drug and alcohol addiction took the legendary guitar playing Jimi Hendrix and songwriter Janis Joplin. Both having heroin addictions, Janis Joplin met her fate when she overdosed on heroin and alcohol. Jimi Hendrix, however, took a total of 9 sleeping pills then later choked on his own vomit- in turn starting the dreadful “club 27″. Then we have the Doors frontman, Jim Morrison, who had an addiction to LSD, Mescaline, Cannabis, and Cocaine. However, he overdosed on heroin at that grim age of 27 just a year later in 1971.
