Many think that fame and wealth is the key to true happiness. While some may agree, others will say there is another “element” needed to the formula for it to be successful.
For actress Anne Hathaway, she appears to have finally found the final “element” she needed to make her life complete. The final ingredient is love and the name for it is Adam Shulman. The two decided to tie the knot and though they were going out for a long time, there was a time where Hathaway did not think she would find true happiness with Adam or anyone for that matter.
Hathaway has enjoyed a life of fame and success for years; however, there was a point where her happiness turned into sadness and this was before being involved with Adam. Before dating Adam, the man in her life was Raffaello Follieri. Anne and her Italian entrepreneur were together for four years and things seemed to be going well for the two. However, Follieri was not what he seemed and there four-year romance tragically came to an end for Anne.
In September of 2008, Raffaello Follieri pleaded guilty to swindling investors out of millions of dollars in an elaborate con in which he posed as a real estate consultant for the Vatican. Anne’s dream life became a nightmare and all she wanted to do was to be alone. Sometimes, in life, we don’t always get what we want and in this case, it proved to be a good thing.
Obviously, Anne wanted to be alone after what happened with her last boyfriend. Though that is what she wanted, things changed after Adam walked into her life. They ended up dating for a while and once she felt comfortable with trusting him, the four-year relationship moved up to the next level and they became engaged in last November.
In an interview with USA Today in August of 2011, she described Adam as being mellow, which is a big change from her former boyfriend. She said they are happy keeping things low-key and love entertaining by having parties in their home. Though she said she is happy with her boyfriend, she was completely off-guard in her current relationship. She said, “I am very much in love with him, (only) Adam totally ruined my plan,” Hathaway said of their relationship last year. “I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!”
Now that the wedding has finally happened and Anne’s new name is Anne Shulman, if you were to ask her last year if they were to be married in 2012, her answer would probably have been different. In fact, it was different in that while promoting The Dark Knight Rises in June of this year, Hathaway swore off a wedding in 2012.
According to Hathaway, she said that, “It’s not going to happen this year. I was hoping it would, but when I got into Les Mis, it was really hard to connect with the excited bride while I was losing weight and dying of tuberculosis. I think if it was going to happen soon I’d have a date by now.”
What she did sound sure of was there would be an addition to the Shulman household. “I’d like to have kids in 10 years,” she said. “I don’t know about five, but 10.”
After their honeymoon, the next thing Anne has to look forward to is director Tom Hooper’s Les Miserables, in theaters on Dec. 25.
